"I am the Rose of Sharon, the Lily of the Valley."
Volumes have been written about this verse of the Bible, from the book Song of Solomon, Chapter 2, Verse 1. Did the Old Testament literally mean a Bride and her Beloved, or is it equally appropriate to interpret this prose as an allegory about Christ and His church? Was the fabled Rose of Sharon really a hibiscus, a narcissus, or some other flower?
Despite all that has been written, we know this....we've loved this quilt pattern for years. And this particular quilt is a beautiful rendering of it. The burgundy of the rose centers and the bow harmonize so beautifully with the rose bell-shaped lily of the valley flowers. On our detail page (link above) we illustrate the detail on the bottom right of the quilt below the center medallion and even the corner drape as it falls to the floor. This is just one gorgeous quilt.
While this quilt's dimensions technically fall within the parameters of a King size, it could also easily fit a Queen bed, but it will hang low on the sides. Depending on the height of your bed frame and box spring, it shouldn't hang on the floor with a Queen mattress, but it's not likely to need a dust ruffle
Beautifully harmonious applique work; good to very good quilting.
This gorgeous quilt will become an heirloom for future generations.
