Description: This pattern is most closely identified with the Old Order Amish settlement in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Some believe that it is an outgrowth of the original Center Diamond pattern, which makes perfect sense. But what patchwork! All those little squares are first sewn together before the batting and back area attached and then the piece is quilted. Of course, the colors are also traditionally Amish. All traditional Amish-colored quilts start with black and then add other colors that the men wear for shirts and the women wear for dresses when they're not formally dressed for church, which dictates only black and white.
The piecing and quilting are gorgeous on this quilt-- the quality of the craftmanship here is just among the best. A true collector's piece!
