Description: The Irish Chain pattern has been in use since 1806, and possibly earlier. It may be the first use of a block pattern in quilting. It is a favorite in Lancaster County. The single Irish chain is of a lovely moss-on-moss leafy floral print. The double chain is of a very attractive green, gold, tan, and maroon cabbage rose chintz-like print. The patches in-between the chains feature a gorgeous eight point star that is made from the both prints, juxtaposed against a tan print of roses on a creamish background. This gives a great depth to the design. The border provides a lovely contrast with a two-tone rust rich damask-like print. Lovely! Terrific piecing; excellent quilting.
Backing: White print embossed on off-white back.
