True, there aren't many Amish people of color. We confess, we don't know any. But the Amish are descended from Swiss German immigrants, and unlike their Mennonite brethren, do not evangelize outside their ranks or send missionaries to anyone. Converts to Amish society are indeed rare.
But we felt that people of color might want representative dolls for their children to love. So why not offer them in Amish dress?
When our first artisan started making our dolls, her 3-year old son started naming them. He gave all the girl dolls with different color dresses different names. We loved this idea, and thought we'd keep his names intact. But when it came time to name the boy dolls, he wasn't too interested. He named them all John! As soon as he saw the boy dolls of color being made, he proudly Christened them "David."
So, in keeping with the tradition he started, we've decided to name them Red David and Blue David. From the mouths of babes!
Our featured photo is Blue David, but you may also choose Red or Green:

Red David
Approximate Doll Dimensions:
15" tall
11 1/2" arm span
2 1/2" thick
David has a brown face, arms, and front torso, while the back of his head, torso back, and legs are black.
Dress:
David comes with straw hat (sewn onto head), a blue , green or red shirt, and black pants with suspenders. If you would like to order a different color dress, such as brown, or purple, please don't hesitate to contact us.
He doesn't have any buttons or zippers, as the Amish don't view those notions as being "plain."
